Eye examinations include extended eye examination
We don’t just do ‘sight tests’ in our well equipped consulting rooms; we conduct the eye examination appropriate for you. This approach ensures we always carry out a thorough investigation of your vision, assess your eye coordination, examine your eyes for possible health problems and offer advice on any specific occupational or recreational needs.

Many patients of ours choose to have our extended eye examination. This includes digital retinal photography, anterior eye photography as required and any further tests that may be needed, which are not included in our basic (NHS equivalent ) eye examination.

Retinal photography
Using our recently updated Canon 15.1 mega pixels camera we can take a digital picture of the back of your eye. This enables us have a better and more detailed inspection of the most important central retina of the eye. These images are stored on computer with your records. It allows us to compare images from visit to visit so that subtle changes to the back of the eye, from eye diseases such as glaucoma, can be more easily detected. We highly recommend this procedure which forms part of our extended eye exam.

Children
One in five children suffers from an undetected eye problem. Research shows that the early detection of eye abnormalities in children can prevent eye problems, such as lazy eyes developing in the future. We recommend that all children have their eyes examined from the age of three or earlier if a problem is suspected. This eye examination is carried out free on the NHS. If your child needs glasses, we have a wide range of frames to choose from.

Research has shown that UV light can contribute to the development of age related cataract and may also contribute to the development of age related macula degeneration. Yet it is a little known fact that 80% of our cumulative lifetime exposure to UV rays will happen before the age of 18. At Croft and Graves we stock a range of children’s sunglasses, all of which have 100% UV protection.

Other Services
We carry out numerous other services including: Home visits for the housebound, Low Visual Aid assessments, orthoptic treatment, DVLA visual fields and sports eyewear. We also carry out VDU examinations and are members of all the large national VDU schemes.
